Which Pictures Make the Best Coloring Pages?
Any JPG or PNG image works: a phone photo, a scanned print or a picture of your child's drawing. The cleaner the photo, the cleaner the lines. Here is what to look for.
Works well
One clear subject that fills most of the frame
Even light, like outdoors on a bright day or next to a window
A plain background: a wall, grass or sky
Strong contrast between the subject and what is behind it
A sharp photo, at least 768 px on the shortest side
Usually disappoints
Dark, blurry or heavily filtered photos
Busy backgrounds, like a messy room or a crowd
Hard shadows across faces
Wide shots where the subject is tiny
Small, low-resolution images saved from a chat or a screenshot
Two quick fixes before you upload
Crop tight around the person, pet or object you care about, so the background has less to say. Then nudge brightness and contrast up a little in your phone's photo editor. Both take a few seconds and make the biggest difference to the result.
How to Print Your Coloring Page
Print the PDF
The PDF keeps lines crisp at full page size on Letter and A4. Save the PNG for digital projects.
Pick the best quality setting
In the print dialog choose "Best" or "High quality". Lines come out darker and easier to color inside.
Match the paper to the tools
Plain office paper is fine for crayons and pencils. Use cardstock for markers or watercolors so the color does not bleed through.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it free to turn a photo into a coloring page?▾
Your first 2 photo pages are free. You get 10 free credits when you sign up and a photo conversion costs 5 credits. No credit card is needed. After that you buy credits when you want more pages.
Do I need an account?▾
Yes, a free one. It takes a few seconds with Google or email, and it keeps your photos and coloring pages in a private library that only you can see.
What kinds of photos work best?▾
Clear, well-lit shots give the cleanest outlines. Think a sunny outdoor photo or anything taken near a window. Portraits, pets, landscapes, product shots, kids' drawings and even screenshots all work. Avoid very dark, blurry, or heavily filtered images if you want fine detail preserved.
Which file formats do you accept?▾
JPG and PNG, up to 20 MB. For the sharpest results use a photo that's at least 768 px on the shortest side. Most phone photos are well above that.
My vacation photo is a bit dark. Will it still work?▾
Often, yes. High-contrast, well-lit images produce the crispest outlines, but a slightly dark photo usually still turns into something printable. If the first result isn't quite right, brighten the photo in your phone's editor or try a brighter photo of the same subject.
Should I download the PDF or the PNG?▾
Use the PDF for printing. It keeps the lines crisp at full page size. Use the PNG if you want to place the coloring page in another design, like a party invitation or a worksheet.
Can I use a picture I found online?▾
Only if you have the right to use it. Photos you took yourself are always fine. For anything else, check that it is in the public domain or that its license allows your use.
Will my photo ever be seen by anyone else?▾
No. Your uploaded photo is used only to generate your coloring page. Generated pages stay in your private account until you choose to remove them. We never share or sell your images.
Can I sell the coloring pages I create?▾
Commercial use, such as selling pages, publishing them in books or using them on products, is available on Studio Subscription plans. One-time credit packages are licensed for personal, non-commercial use.
Can I convert multiple photos at once?▾
Pages are converted one at a time right now. A batch-upload tool is on our roadmap.
