How to make number tracing worksheets
1. Pick the numbers
1 to 10, 0 to 20, or just the numbers you need. Turn the number word on or off.
2. Pick a style if you like
Dotted lines, grey numbers or a dashed outline, how many rows, starting dots and paper size.
3. Download and print
One PDF with a page per number. Print it at 100% (or "Actual size") so the lines keep their height.
Example number tracing worksheets
Each number gets its own page. These show the three tracing styles.

Tips for writing numbers
Count, then write
Before tracing a number, count that many things together: blocks, buttons, steps. The number then means something.
Watch for flipped numbers
Backwards 2, 3, 5, 7 and 9 are very common at first. The starting dot helps: they all begin at the top.
Trace the word too
Reading and writing "three" next to 3 links the number to the word they will meet in books.
Teens are two numbers
Point out that 14 is a 1 and a 4. Children who can write 0 to 9 can write all the teens.
A few minutes a day
One number a day, or a couple of rows, is plenty. Stop while it is still fun.
Use it more than once
Slip the page into a clear sheet protector and trace with a dry-erase marker. Wipe it clean and go again.
